Dumelang Saleshando, born on September 13th, 1971, is a seasoned politician boasting a heritage steeped in politics, public service, and faith. His father, Gilson Saleshando, served both as a fervent politician and a pastor in the Seventh Day Adventist Church. His mother, Keatlaretse Dolly Saleshando, dedicated herself to public service within the health sector. Growing up primarily in Selebi Phikwe, Dumelang attended Kopano Primary School before completing his high school education at St Joseph’s College in Kgale. Hon Saleshando has played a leading role in the BCP since it’s founding in 1998. He is married to Dineo Saleshando, an accomplished banker, together they have a daughter and two sons.

The BCP, a party deeply committed to social democracy, good governance, and the rule of law, stands as a beacon for fairness. We advocate for a fair economic system, ensuring equal opportunities for prosperity, and a political system that allows diversity to flourish, allowing everyone to enjoy their political and cultural rights. ACHIEVEMENTS DURING HIS TERM AS GABORONE CENTRAL’S REPRESENTATIVE

  • Proposal for the exemption of VAT on essential food items

  • Advocated, and gained government approval, for tax reforms to alleviate the financial burden of first-time home buyers

  • Championed improved conditions of service within public sector, advocating especially
    for the more vulnerable groups such as Tirelo Sechaba and Safety Health and Environment (SHE) Officers

  • Successfully advocated for the reform of the Rent-A-Chair practice in hairdressing industry

  • Presented Private Members Bill on Freedom of Information

ADVOCACY FOR INVESTOR AND COMMUNITY RIGHTS

  • Currently holding the position of Member of Parliament for Maun West, Saleshando plays a crucial role in the Ngamiland District, a central hub for Botswana’s flourishing tourism sector

  • Saleshando has compellingly expressed the necessity to reshape the tourism landscape in Ngamiland, emphasizing the importance of ensuring the economic benefits reach the broader population of Maun rather than being confined solely to the lodges in the Okavango Delta.

  • In 2023, Saleshando launched the Annual Maun Medical Outreach through which members of the public with limited access to medical services, are able to undergo basic medical checks such as kidney and liver tests

  • Has been actively involved in SADC Parliamentary Forum and the Inter-Parliamentary Union attests to his commitment and influence on a global scale
